About Us
Douglas Constant, a native New Yorker, trained as a musicologist
studying both in the US and in England. In 1978 he launched a career in the
antiques business. For years he maintained an open shop in Greenport on Long
Island's North Fork. In 2000 Doug and his wife Karin, a former teacher, became
full time show dealers. Doug and Karin presently exhibit at better shows
on the East Coast . While the Constants no longer have an open shop they
are associates at MacDougall-Gionet Antiques, a group shop featuring period
furniture and accessories in Wells, Maine.
Doug and Karin live in a historic house in Orient, Long Island. The village
of Orient is a National Historic District. Doug is a commissioner on the
Town of Southold's Landmark Preservation Commission. In the summer they enjoy
sailing their Herreshoff 12 1/2 Daysailer and try to drive their 1959 Morgan Plus 4 year round. They are particularly proud of
their growing family which includes four young collectors.
